Senior Coaches 2026

We are proud to present our coaches for the 2026 Season, for our senior teams.

The CPL Southern Stingers are pleased to have the Trio of Ben Owers, James 'Jimmy' Morris-Williamson & Sam 'Barry' Bennet continuing in their coaching roles for 2026,
 

Following on from a successful 2025 season Ben will continue to lead the team on and off the field as a player/coach, taking charge of campaign planning, team culture, and core hockey strategies.
 

Off the back of coaching a successful Canterbury  NHC Tier3 campaign in 2025, ‘Jimmy’ is looking to support the team to push for the top of the ladder & Barry will bring expertise to various areas, including training delivery, game-day operations, physical conditioning, and individualised player support.

The CPL Southern Stars are thrilled confirm that Adrian Smithy & Holly Beynon are returning to the coaching box this season.

As a former international player, representing Fiji, in both the 11-aside and Fast 5’s formats, and representing New Zealand as a Masters 35 player, and a current CPL Men’s player, Adrian brings top level experience, strategy & passion for the game to his coaching style.

With solid skills for developing players to their full potential and a knack for finding hidden talents among his players, Adrian is developing a positive player group and we are excited about the season ahead.

Adrian will be supported by Holly Beynon as Assistant Coach.

Holly brings a calm presence, a can-do attitude and a wealth of hockey playing, coaching knowledge & experience.   Holly is committed to continuing to build a supportive team culture with a skilled & competitive player group

The Division 1 Sluggers are pleased to welcome back Shane Maddaford to the coaching role in 2026.

With a depth of passion, skill and knowledge, Shane is continuing to shape the Div1 men into a continuously competitive playing group, as division champions in 2023 & 2024 the team will be pushing to regain the top spot in 2026 after a top 4 finish in in 2025.

The Division 1 Sapphires are pleased to confirm Garry Singh & Toni Lubbers as the 2026 Coaches.

Garry’s passion for playing hockey and player development has seen him successfully coach teams at Highschool, Club and Canterbury Age Group Rep Level – He is a coach that brings passion & energy to every session and he is looking forward to continuing to develop the Div1 Playing group & building on the teams 2025 results!

Garry will be supported by Toni Lubbers as Assistant Coach.

Toni brings a passion for player wellbeing, positive team culture and a focus on player growth.
